The Stanley Parable: I like my wit dry

Posted on February 22, 2015 at 6:24 pm

The one area that games have developed massively over the past few years is in their writing. As screenwriters approach the medium and independent developers learn to express themselves with more clarity the complexity and sophistication of gaming narratives has grown. The Stanley Parable is one such game that has benefited massively from that improvement, and also the improvement in the quality of voice actors available.

The Stanley Parable is a first person puzzle and exploration game set in an office block. Stanley, our hero, is constantly narrated by a cutting, intelligent and hilarious man who comments on every aspect of your actions. The game is completely mind bending as well; with some extremely clever puzzles, and unexpected twists and turns along the way – The Stanley Parable might be a walking simulator, but it’s clever, witty and extremely well written. If this is a sign of things to come then gamers have a lot to look forward to in the years to come.
